hey, i just came here after googling the topic. i am a young christian; maybe i can ask for clarification? what is meant by saints "interceding for us"? i thought that when i intercede for someone, i agree with them and lift them up in prayer, that is where its benefit is. But how can dead saints or their spirits agree with our requests? I mean we can talk to our friends and agree in our minds and spirits and pray (worship god with all your mind and), i understand that...
also...here is where i am confused...
isnt praying to anyone but GOD not right? i know you can say u r not praying "to" the saint, only asking him to pray for u...but to do that, you have to communicate spiritually, and the only way to do that is to pray to them to ask right?

as to the one mediator...well when we ask our friends to pray to god...please clear this up for me...THEY arent mediating because they are praying to JESUS who is the one Mediator, he will carry our prayers to God, he will mediate!!! So to ask our friends to do that isnt asking them to do "mediating"...but to ask a Saint to carry requests before God ...leaving out Jesus...that's mediating right! Which only JESUS can do...BECAUSE his BLOOD which he shed "pleads for us" as the Bible says...it is offered up as atonement to God :) NO one else can do that...no man can satisfy God's wrath with their blood :) no man can mediate...only Jesus :)

i really appreciate your references to the bible, can you post more please :)

The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.” James 5:16
i agree with that...but i notice it says a "righteous MAN" not a "righteous SPIRIT"...when we die we are no longer flesh and blood right...thans for discussing! may God bless you

Hi Kate and welcome,

Here's just the beginning of where you and I disagree:

"a very personal responsibility "
"a person or government that isn’t involved"

I hope you have a blessed day.

The person to protect your child is you. Mr. Obama didn't conceive the child. Mr. Obama does not perform abortions. It's unclear why a very personal responsibility is being thrust onto a person or government that isn't involved. Do the right thing. Don't condemn others. God judges.

First, CONGRATULATIONS!! :D

I share your grief and you can be assured that in spite of my intense personal dislike of our president elect, I will be praying for his conversion. The sooner he is converted, the sooner the damage of policies like this will be stopped.

I am sad to say that I used to be pro-choice. The truth is I needed conversion, not anger, bitterness or hatred in order to change. This is probably my biggest personal challenge: to obediently love and pray for the people I want to hate.

Powerful. Although I'm not Catholic, I stand alongside you and my Catholic brothers and sisters. The vote didn't go as we would have liked, and yet, Christ still reigns. He is unchangeable, unrelenting, and unswerveable. Lord, have mercy and bring justice.
